Untirta Student Caught Filming Lecturer in University Toilet, Campus Prepares Sanctions

A student at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University (Untirta) with initials MZ was caught secretly recording his lecturer in a campus toilet. The university authorities have confirmed that the case is being handled by the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence (Satgas PPK). “Regarding this case, it is already being handled by the Satgas for the Prevention and Handling of Violence (PPK),” said Untirta’s public relations officer, Adhitya Angga Pratama, when contacted on Tuesday (7/4/2026), as reported by detikNews. The Satgas PPK is also accompanying the victim, including during the report to the police. “From the start, upon receiving the report, the task force immediately provided accompaniment to the victim. The Satgas PPK is of course implementing the applicable SOP and regulations, including accompaniment in reporting to the Provincial Police,” he stated. “Sanctions in accordance with the applicable academic rules and guidelines. Later, the task force will provide recommendations to serve as the basis for determining those sanctions, both in academic and legal aspects,” he added. Furthermore, Angga emphasised that the university is committed to maintaining the campus as a safe, comfortable, inclusive place free from all forms of violence, both physical and sexual. “Certainly, Untirta is committed to being a safe, comfortable, inclusive campus free from all forms of violence. This must be upheld together by the entire Untirta academic community,” he added. Previously, in a circulating video as seen by detikcom on Sunday (5/4), the alleged perpetrator was caught in the act. The perpetrator appeared to be bowing his head while surrounded by many people at the location. The victim then reported to the police. The reporter is known by initials LK, who is a lecturer. The report was received by the Banten Provincial Police on 2 April 2026, with the reported party having initials MZ. In the report, the victim, as a lecturer, reported an alleged criminal act as regulated in Law No. 12 of 2022 on Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS). “We will summon the parties who know about this incident to be questioned, so that the case handling can proceed professionally, transparently, and in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” said the Head of Public Relations of Banten Provincial Police, Commissioner Maruli Ahiles Hutapea. Furthermore, he urged the public to remain calm and not speculate. Currently, the investigation process is ongoing. “We urge the public not to spread information whose truth is uncertain and to fully entrust the case handling process to the police,” Maruli stated.
