Unsustainable lifestyle continues
Unsustainable lifestyle continues
Friday May 31, was the World No Tobacco Day. But at noon after
the first round of debate when delegates flowed out of conference
rooms it became all too apparent that smokers were oblivious of
this fact.
Indonesians were seen enjoying a puff as they mingled with
smokers of all kinds of nationalities roaming the lobbies of the
Bali International Conference Center.
And while the conference is about sustainable development it
was not clear whether the issue contributed to breaking the
global habit of smoking the cancer sticks.
Out of the world's 1.1 billion smokers, 6.6 percent are
Indonesians, according to the World Bank.
In Bali at the lunch break, talks on sustainable development
is taking a back seat while smokers adopt an unsustainable
lifestyle -- at least for the time it takes to smoke a cigarette.
