Unsrat relocation to cost Rp 1.7t

MANADO, North Sulawesi: It will cost about Rp 1.7 trillion
(US$170,000) to relocate Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat) in
Manado, rector Lucky Sondakh said on Wednesday.

He said the Rp 1.7 trillion would pay for all phases of the
move, including the construction of academic and research
facilities for the university's nine schools.

"The university would like to express its gratitude to the
North Sulawesi administration for donating 150 hectares of land
in Wori (for the move)," he said.

The university will also ask the central government for
assistance in the relocation, which will not be completed until
2015.

A North Sulawesi councillor, Edwin Eman, does not expect the
move to disrupt educational activities at the university.

"The council supports the relocation of the university's
campus, because its current site is no longer adequate to support
all of the university's activities," he said. -- Antara
