Unsoed Vice-Rectors Questioned by KPK Over Alleged Bribery and 'Reserved' Student Admissions
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has interrogated the ranks of Vice-Rectors, lecturers, and professors at Universitas Soedirman (Unsoed). This interrogation is related to a case handled by the KPK concerning allegations of extortion and gratification in the independent student admission pathway.
Witnesses examined included the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Noor Farid; the Vice-Rector for General Affairs and Finance, Kuat Puji Prayitno; and the Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations, Waluyo Handoko. Additionally, the investigation included lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Mochamad Sugiyarto; Professor of Communication Philosophy at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Nana Sutikna; a lecturer from the Faculty of Law, Weda Kupita; and a lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine, Untung Gunarto.
The interrogation, conducted by investigators from the Banyumas Regional Police on Tuesday (15/09/2026), aims to delve into the admission process and the existence of ‘reserved’ students (mahasiswa titipan).
“This is to confirm and obtain complete information on how the process and mechanism of new student admissions work, particularly through the independent pathway, including the issue of alleged reserved placements,” said KPK Spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, on Wednesday (16/09/2026).
Budi explained that the testimony of these Vice-Rectors is necessary as they are privy to the mechanisms of the student admission process. “Furthermore, looking back at the construction of the case, there are various modes of operation carried out by certain individuals within the Unsoed environment,” he clarified.
It is known that in this case, the Rector allegedly sought profit from new student admissions via the independent pathway. Notably, as many as 73 seats were allegedly manipulated to generate these profits.
In the initial investigation, the KPK revealed that the Unsoed Rector targeted the Faculties of Medicine, Fisheries, and Law, with set prices ranging from Rp50 million to as high as Rp650 million.
Currently, the suspects have been detained for the first 20 days, from 21 August to 9 September 2026, at the KPK detention centre in the Merah Putih building. The six individuals are also accused of violating provisions in the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, specifically Article 12 letter e or Article 12B, which are also linked to the latest Criminal Code (KUHP).
