Unsoed Vice Rector I acknowledges KPK investigation focused on independent admission pathway selection

Purwokerto (ANTARA) - Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) Purwokerto, Prof Noor Farid, has acknowledged that the examination conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against him focused on the mechanisms and criteria for selecting new students through the independent pathway.

“Essentially, the selection mechanism was questioned. Then, what are the criteria for passing or not? Meaning, the focus was more on the independent selection,” said Noor Farid after a press conference at the Unsoed Rectorate Building, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Saturday afternoon.

He admitted that he did not remember in detail all the questions posed by KPK investigators during the examination at the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) building of the Banyumas City Police on Thursday (20/8).

“Oh, I forgot. At that time I was even sleepy and everything. So, as for the questions, I forgot,” he said.

He explained that Unsoed has three new student admission pathways, namely selection based on achievement, selection based on tests, and independent selection.

For the test-based selection or UTPK, Unsoed in the previous year served around 18 thousand prospective students.

“Meanwhile, admission through the independent pathway averages around 30 percent,” he said.

He said prospective students who were not accommodated through the national selection based on achievement or tests could participate in selection through the independent pathway.

“There are two types of achievement, academic and non-academic, then finally organisational. So, the scores for members, administrators, and chairpersons are different. The levels are also different,” he said.

Regarding the Unsoed Rector’s access to the new student admission system, he said the access was used to carry out the monitoring function as university leadership and could not be used to pass prospective students who did not meet the criteria.

“If the score does not make it, then they cannot get in. The ID held by the Rector is for entering as a leader, for monitoring,” he explained.

He said Unsoed has an internal supervision system through the Internal Supervision Unit (SPI).

After the selection process is complete, the student admission mechanism can be examined to ensure its implementation complies with regulations.

He also assured that the KPK examination did not disrupt academic activities at Unsoed.

According to Noor, lecture schedules for various levels, from diploma to doctoral programmes, have been prepared and are running normally.

“There is no paralysis. Lectures have been set and will run well from D1, S1, professional, to S2, S3,” he asserted.

Regarding the possibility of public reports, Noor Farid admitted he did not know about them and said he had never received reports regarding alleged fraud in the new student admission process.

Previously, on 21 August 2026, the KPK named Unsoed Rector Prof Akhmad Sodiq, Vice Rector III for Student Affairs Prof Norman Arie Prayogo, Mulyono as Akhmad Sodiq’s nephew, Dian Mulia Wardhana and Adhi Wiharto as intermediaries, and Head of the Academic Section of Unsoed Eko Sumanto as suspects in an alleged corruption case in the admission of new students at the state university.
