Unsoed Vice-Rector Extorted Rp 650 Million from Medical Faculty Fresher's Parents, but Student Still Failed
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Universitas Soedirman (Unsoed) Rector Akhmad Sodiq and Vice-Rector III for Student Affairs, Norman Arie Prayogo, as suspects in an alleged extortion case concerning new student admissions. The KPK revealed that one of the extortions carried out by the two occurred during the admission of new students to the medical faculty.
Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, initially disclosed that the extortion of prospective medical faculty students took place in August 2026. At that time, Norman Arie Prayogo, with the knowledge of Akhmad Sodiq and through two intermediaries, allegedly demanded Rp 650 million from the parents of the prospective student.
“Norman Arie Prayoga, as Vice-Rector III of Unsoed, with the knowledge of Ahmad Sodiq as Rector of Unsoed, through two intermediaries, namely Dian Mulia Wardhana and Adhi Wiharto, both private parties, allegedly demanded money from the parents of a prospective new student at the Faculty of Medicine amounting to Rp 650 million,” said Achmad Taufik during a press conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (21/8/2026).
Taufik stated that the demand for money was agreed to by the parents of the prospective student. However, he said, the prospective student ultimately still did not pass the selection.
“The request was then fulfilled by the parents of the prospective new student. However, after the money was given to Dian Mulia Wardhana and Adhi Wiharto, their child was actually declared to have failed the new student selection,” he said.
Upon learning this, the parents of the prospective student requested a refund. However, Dian and Adhi were unable to return the Rp 650 million because it had already been used.
“So this means that the money that had been given by the parents had already been used by DMW and AW themselves,” Taufik added.
The two then informed Vice-Rector Norman Arie Prayogo about the matter. Subsequently, Norman, with the permission of Rector Akhmad Sodiq, borrowed money from a private party to return the funds.
“To repay the loan to the private party, NAP, through DMW, AW, and MYN as a private party as well as the nephew of ASO, promised to pay through the disbursement of three project packages within Unsoed, namely the procurement of canopies, renovation of the canteen, and painting of buildings,” Taufik explained.
It was previously reported that the KPK had named Unsoed Rector Akhmad Sodiq and his deputy, Norman Arie Prayogo as Vice-Rector III for Student Affairs, as suspects in an extortion case involving new student admissions. In addition to the two, the KPK also named four other parties as suspects.
“Based on the sufficiency of evidence, the KPK has named six suspects,” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, to reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Friday (21/8).
The six people named as suspects are:
Ahmad Sodiq as Rector of Unsoed;
Norman Arie Prayoga as Vice-Rector III of Unsoed;
Eko Sumanto as Head of Academic Affairs at Unsoed;
Dian Mulia Wardhana as a private party;
Adhi Wiharto as a private party;
Mulyono as a private party.
