A student at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) in Purwokerto, Banyumas, identified by the initial D, was assaulted by several peers on campus in mid-April 2026. D was assaulted because he is suspected of being the perpetrator of sexual violence.

Unsoed’s spokesperson, Dr Dian Bestari, confirmed the assault based on statements from the victim and his family. The university stated that the case is allegedly linked to a report of suspected sexual violence (KS) involving D.

“This assault is allegedly motivated by the sexual violence case involving D, based on the victim’s report to the PPK Task Force,” explained Dian, quoted by detikJateng on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

The university denied any intimidation of the victim by campus authorities. They stated that they have allowed reporting to the PPK Task Force.

Following the assault case, two Unsoed Purwokerto female students filed reports at Polresta Banyumas. These students are suspected victims of sexual violence (KS) perpetrated by D.

Dian confirmed the police report. The victims filed the report accompanied by the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling (PPK) Task Force team.

“Correct, the Unsoed PPK Task Force this afternoon accompanied two KS victims from D to report to Polresta Banyumas,” said Dian to detikJateng on Wednesday (22/4).

She urged female students not to fear reporting if they are victims of sexual violence on campus.

“We encourage any student experiencing indications of KS to report immediately,” she stated.

Separately, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Polresta Banyumas, AKP Ardi Kurniawan, confirmed the report. According to him, the report is being handled by the Child and Women’s Protection Investigation Unit (Satres PPA) and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Unit (PPO).

“It has (the KS victim report been made), the female victim will be handled by Satres PPA,” he said.

When asked if there is any connection to the assault victim with initial D who previously reported to Polresta Banyumas, he did not deny it.

“Initial information suggests there is, but we are still investigating,” he explained.
