Unsoed Rector Caught in KPK Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reportedly carried out a sting operation (OTT) in Purwokerto, Central Java, on Thursday (20/8/2026).
The operation, related to alleged corruption, targeted Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed).
“One of the parties detained is the Rector of UNSOED,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Friday (21/8/2026), as quoted from detikcom.
According to information gathered by CNN Indonesia, at least five people were caught in the sting operation.
Two of them are Vice Rector I, identified as NF, and Vice Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni, identified as NAP.
Meanwhile, the other parties are AW and M, acting as third parties, along with one staff member from the vice rector’s office.
“It is related to the independent admission pathway for medical studies,” said a CNN Indonesia source.
A detikcom report stated that a total of 14 people were detained by the KPK, including the Unsoed rector.
“In this incident, the team detained fourteen people, namely twelve people in the Purwokerto area and two people in Jakarta, on Thursday (20/8),” said Budi.
Those caught in the KPK sting operation are still considered to be under examination. The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of those caught in the operation.
