Unsoed Rector Arrested by KPK While in Jakarta
The Rector of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed), Akhmad Sodiq, was detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a sting operation (OTT). KPK investigators detained Akhmad Sodiq while he was in Jakarta.
“The Rector has been at the KPK’s Red and White Building since yesterday because he was indeed in Jakarta,” explained KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto when confirmed on Friday (21/8/2026).
Akhmad Sodiq was detained in the sting operation that took place on Thursday (20/8/2026). Besides Akhmad Sodiq, 13 other people were also detained by the investigation team in the operation.
“Two people detained in Jakarta were immediately questioned intensively at the KPK’s Red and White Building,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo.
“Meanwhile, 12 people detained in Purwokerto underwent initial examination at the Banyumas Police Station,” he continued.
From the initial examination at the Banyumas Police Station, Budi said investigators eventually brought seven people to Jakarta. Thus, the total number of parties currently undergoing intensive examination in Jakarta has increased.
“So as of now, the parties detained in the sting operation and currently undergoing questioning at the KPK’s Red and White Building total 9 people,” he added.
Budi explained that the sting operation relates to alleged bribery or gratuities received by the Unsoed Rector in the new student admissions process. In this operation, the KPK also seized evidence in the form of cash amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah.
“This closed investigation activity is related to alleged receipt by a state official in the new student admissions process,” said Budi.
“The evidence seized includes cash amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah,” he concluded.
As of now, the detained parties are still being examined. The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine and announce the legal status of the parties caught in the sting operation.
