UNS Lecturer Presents Indonesia's Economic and Business Conditions at International Seminar
Universitas Sebelas Maret has once again demonstrated its global presence through the participation of its lecturer in an international academic forum. Dr. Dona Budi Kharisma, a lecturer in Business Law at the Faculty of Law, UNS, served as a speaker at the international seminar titled Doing Business in Indonesia, organised by RUDN University in Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation, on 22 April 2026.
The seminar was held following the visit of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to Moscow on 13 April 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Russia amid global dynamics. The event was targeted at managers, export and investment professionals, and business development specialists working with or planning to enter the Indonesian market and the ASEAN region.
In addition to featuring Russian business practitioners and economists, the seminar invited Dr. Dona as a speaker from Indonesia. She participated virtually and delivered a comprehensive analysis of Indonesia’s economic structure, national reform agenda, demographic dividend potential, flagship industrial sectors, and national business culture characteristics.
The main emphasis of the seminar was on practical strategies for entering the Indonesian market and navigating the regulatory framework for foreign investors. In her presentation titled Legal Framework of Investment Climate in Indonesia (Guidance for Foreign Investors), Dr. Dona discussed Indonesia’s investment policy design, including the positive investment list, priority sectors, open investment schemes with certain requirements, and protection for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The involvement of the UNS lecturer in this international forum reflects the active role of higher education institutions in promoting the concept of an impactful university, which not only focuses on education and research but also provides tangible contributions to academic diplomacy, strengthening international cooperation, and disseminating strategic knowledge for the global business community.
This participation also aligns with the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the dissemination of knowledge and cross-country academic collaboration; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by promoting sustainable and inclusive investment understanding; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through strengthening the investment ecosystem and innovation; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through expanding global partnerships between educational institutions, government, and business actors.
Through this activity, UNS not only strengthens its position on the international stage but also demonstrates the tangible contributions of Indonesian higher education institutions in supporting sustainable development and enhancing national economic competitiveness at the global level.
