The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has strongly condemned the actions of the Israeli occupation authorities, which targeted its Qalandia Training Centre in occupied East Jerusalem. These actions are regarded as a clear violation of international law.

According to reports from the Palestinian news agency, WAFA, from Ramallah on Saturday (29/08/202 6), UNRWA emphasised that the raids and illegal activities at the educational facility are unjustifiable. As an asset belonging to the United Nations (UN), the training centre should be respected and protected in accordance with applicable international conventions.

UNRWA revealed that while the occupation authorities were on-site, the facility sustained significant damage. Furthermore, the international agency received reports of attempts to steal assets within the training centre area by unauthorised parties.

UNRWA has consistently emphasised the importance of protecting the centre and all its assets, given the vital role of the Qalandia Training Centre in providing educational services and technical skills to Palestinian refugees in the region.

In its official statement, UNRWA asserted that the occupation authorities have a legal obligation to immediately cease such actions. They are also required to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in the future to ensure the safety of personnel and humanitarian assets.

Despite facing pressure and security disruptions, UNRWA reaffirmed its commitment to continuing all educational activities at the Qalandia Training Centre in full, for the sake of the future of Palestinian refugees.
