Unregistered Husband Faces 15 Years for Murdering Wife Whose Remains Found in Depok
Police have designated Ahmad Ronny Hasiholan (44) as a suspect in the murder case of his unregistered wife, DH (56), whose skeletal remains were discovered in Meruyung, Limo, Depok, West Java. Ronny is currently detained at the Metro Jaya Police Detention Centre.
“The suspect has been detained,” stated Kombes Iman Imannudin, Head of the Criminal Investigation Division of Metro Jaya Police, during a press conference on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
Imannudin stated that the suspect has been charged under Article 458 paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning murder. The suspect faces a maximum penalty of 15 years imprisonment.
“The suspect is alleged to have committed the criminal act as referred to in Article 458 paragraph 1 with a penalty threat of 15 years imprisonment,” he said.
The case came to light after the victim’s family reported the discovery of the remains to police on Saturday, 7 March. At that time, the victim’s child and their partner were cleaning the house. Police launched an investigation and the perpetrator was arrested by the Mobile Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division on Sunday, 8 March in Cipete Raya Street, Jatimulya, South Tambun, Bekasi Regency.
Motive for Murder
Police revealed the motive behind Ahmad Ronny’s murder of his unregistered wife, whose remains were found severely decomposed. The couple had married in December 2024. The suspect claimed he killed the victim out of emotional distress.
“The suspect, known to be unemployed, felt bitter after being evicted from the home by the victim, and subsequently committed murder,” said Kombes Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations at Metro Jaya Police, to journalists on Monday, 9 March.
Police indicated that the motive for the killing stemmed from economic problems. “The preliminary motive is believed to be rooted in economic difficulties,” he added.
