Unpatti Strengthens Role of Teacher Training Institutions through INOVASI Phase 3 Programme
Ambon (ANTARA) - Universitas Pattimura (Unpatti) Ambon, in collaboration with the INOVelse Phase 3 Programme, is strengthening the role of Teacher Training Institutions (LPTK) to support the improvement of regional education quality. This is being implemented through a workshop themed ‘The Role of Teacher Training Institutions (LPTK) for Local Governments’ held in Ambon, according to Prof. Izaak H. Wenno, Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Unpatti and Chairperson of the organising committee.
He stated that the event serves as a collaborative platform for various educational stakeholders to strengthen the contribution of LPTK in supporting the development of high-quality human resources. ‘We believe that this activity is not merely a workshop, but a collaborative space to explore ideas, share experiences, and formulate strategic steps in building quality education through a quality-based approach, not only for Maluku but also for Indonesia,’ said Izaak.
He explained that the workshop is part of a sustained partnership between universities and the INOVASI Programme to improve national education quality by strengthening the capacity of institutions that train educators. According to Izaak, the presence of various LPTK and educational stakeholders from several regions provides an important opportunity to share best practices and expand cooperation networks to address increasingly complex educational challenges.
Izaak also expressed appreciation for the INOVASI Programme, which has provided a space for collaboration between Universitas Pattimura and UIN Abdul Muthalib Sangadji Ambon to develop various educational innovations that impact the improvement of learning quality in Maluku.
During the event, the Counsellor for Knowledge, Innovation, and Humanitarian Affairs at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta, Hannah Derwent, expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration between the government, universities, and development partners in advancing education in Indonesia. ‘We are proud to be a partner of the Indonesian Government for almost 70 years. It is our hope that the established cooperation, particularly in the field of education, can continue to contribute to supporting the realization of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision,’ she said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Teacher Professional Education at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Ferry Maulana Putra, emphasised that the quality of human resources is heavily determined by the quality of teachers as the spearhead of education. ‘The key to realising superior human resources is the teacher. Therefore, teachers must be professional and also prosperous,’ he stated.
He added that strengthening teacher professional education requires synergy between the government, universities, and various stakeholders to prepare competent and adaptive prospective teachers capable of meeting future educational needs. Through this activity, the INOVASI Programme and its educational partners are expected to produce recommendations and strategic steps to strengthen teacher capacity, improve learning quality, and support sustainable educational development in Maluku and Indonesia.
