The capacity of Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) for new S1 students through the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) pathway in the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT) for 2026 has changed compared to 2025. Some programme quotas have been increased, while others have been decreased.

“Overall (the quota) we are not allowed to increase,” said the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at Unpad, Zahrotur Rusyda Hinduan, to Tempo on Saturday, 28 March 2026.

Registration for UTBK SNBT is currently underway from 25 March to 7 April 2026. According to Zahrotur, Unpad’s new student capacity is set by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, based on the quota proposals submitted by Unpad in January 2026. As a result, the total capacity for 2026 does not exceed that of 2025.

In accordance with government regulations, the quota for the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway is at least 20 percent, and the independent pathway at higher education institutions with legal entity status (PTNBH) is a maximum of 50 percent. “The quota is not reduced but not allowed to increase,” Zahrotur stated.

Meanwhile, Unpad has added a new programme this year, namely cosmetic engineering. According to him, the restriction on S1 quotas is related to government policy to encourage PTNBH campuses to boost postgraduate education.
