Unpad Uses Signal Detection Devices to Prevent Cheating in UTBK
Universitas Padjadjaran is preparing several measures to prevent cheating practices during the implementation of the computer-based written exam for the National Selection based on Tests (UTBK SNBT) 2026. Head of Public Communication Office at Unpad, Dandi Supriadi, stated that the campus will anticipate by checking prospective students taking the exam.
“Regarding anticipation of cheating, the Unpad UTBK Centre has prepared various schemes, including checks with metal detectors, body searches, and signal detection devices,” said Dandi via a messaging application on Friday, 10 April 2026.
Dandi explained that the signal detection device will search for the presence of prohibited devices in the exam room. The device will detect devices connected via Bluetooth or internet networks.
“This is a preventive action to avoid the presence of communication technology devices in the exam room that can be used for cheating,” said Dandi.
The UTBK will be held simultaneously from 21-30 April. Dandi stated that preparations for supporting exam infrastructure at Unpad have reached 100 percent, including the installation of applications on 675 computer units. In addition, recruitment of human resources for positions as supervisors, room technicians, and other officers has reached 90 percent.
“We are optimistic that the supporting HR needs will be met during the implementation,” he said.
This year, Unpad will accept a total of 9,443 new students, with 8,257 for S-1 or undergraduate level. Meanwhile, 1,186 for D-4 or applied undergraduate. The admission quota through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway is 25.5 percent. This number is equivalent to 2,109 people for S-1 level.
Then, the SNBT capacity through UTBK is 2,775 people or 33.6 percent. Unpad’s largest quota is through the independent selection pathway with a quota of 3,373 people or 40.8 percent of the total capacity.
