Hundreds of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers staged a demonstration in front of Gate D at Tugu Makalangan and Unpad’s rectorate on Tuesday (31/3/2026). They complained about the closure of Gate D and its relocation to Gate C, which is too far away, while the fares in the apps remain the same.

Unpad’s Head of Public Relations, Dandi Supriadi, stated that the campus has received the aspirations of the ojol drivers conveyed on Tuesday (31/3/2026) at the Unpad rectorate building. He said the campus is committed to formulating the best solution for all parties within the next five days.

“To that end, Unpad invites representatives of online motorcycle taxi drivers to hold a hearing tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 1 April 2026,” he said on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

He explained that traffic engineering in the Unpad Jatinangor campus environment has been carried out since 28 January 2026. This activity is aimed at improving security, order, and access control within the Unpad environment.

“Through the implementation of the gate system, Unpad’s academic community entering and exiting the campus area must scan a QR Code on the Saunpad application. With this gate system policy, visitors without access to the Saunpad application can enter and exit the campus area via Gate C by reporting to the security officers on duty,” he said.

With this policy, he stated that those affected include base motorcycle taxi drivers, ojol, package and food couriers, service and goods vendors, as well as guests and alumni. He said the regulation of entry and exit from Gate C is the main issue in the aspirations of the ojol drivers, as the gate located at the back of the campus is felt to be too far.

Dandi said the ojol drivers are requesting a solution that provides closer access to the campus for online motorcycles. In the meantime, while awaiting the hearing and final decision, Unpad is implementing a temporary solution by opening Gate D for ojol driver access only for the next five days.

He said the gate system policy at Unpad is carried out to improve security, order, and access control within the Unpad environment. This system also aims to identify the number of vehicles entering Unpad and their mobility patterns within the campus.

“The goal is to better control motor vehicle emissions through data for the implementation of a sustainable green campus,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the ojol drivers, Herdi (38 years old), said the closure of Gate D at Tugu Makalangan forces ojol drivers to deliver passengers much farther to Gate C. Especially for students in the Faculty of Cultural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine.

“The distance is getting longer but the fare remains the same,” he said.
