UNNES Student Who Sent Lewd Messages to Campus Friend Named Suspect

Police have named MFA (19), a student at Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), as a suspect in a case of alleged verbal sexual violence. The Head of the Women and Children Protection and Anti-Trafficking Unit at Semarang Police, Kompol Ni Made Sriniti, stated on Friday that the suspect was named after investigators gathered sufficient evidence. According to her, MFA was named a suspect based on a report from a victim who is also a student at the same campus. Additionally, investigators have secured evidence in the form of screenshots of conversations between the victim and the suspect, which allegedly contain elements of sexual harassment. For his actions, the suspect is charged under Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes. However, investigators are not detaining the suspect. “Because the maximum penalty is less than five years, he is not detained. But he is subject to mandatory reporting,” she said. Police have also coordinated with the campus Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) to determine the possibility of other victims. “From the campus task force, there have been several reports involving the same perpetrator,” she said. The case began when the suspect communicated with the victim, a female student who was running a side business providing goods deposit and delivery services, on Wednesday, 17 June 2026. During the communication, the suspect allegedly sent messages with a sexually harassing tone to the victim. Screenshots of the conversation then circulated widely on social media.
