Unnes Student Suspected of Harassing Shuttle Driver Named as Suspect
Police have named Semarang State University (Unnes) student MFA (19) as a suspect in a case of alleged verbal harassment against a shuttle driver (anjem). MFA is charged under the Sexual Violence Crime Law (UU TPKS).
The Head of the Women and Children Protection and PPO Unit at Semarang Police, Kompol Ni Made Sriniti, stated on Friday (19/6/2026) that MFA is charged under Article 5 of the TPKS Law.
“We have named him as a suspect, with the alleged offence being Electronic-Based Sexual Violence and/or Non-Physical Sexual Violence as referred to in Article 14 paragraph (1) letter b and/or Article 5 of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS),” Sriniti said.
MFA was detained by Semarang Police early Thursday morning (18/6) after being surrounded by Unnes students on campus. However, he has not been taken into custody because the maximum penalty for the article is under five years.
MFA, a student of the Faculty of Sports Science at Unnes, is suspected of sending obscene messages to the victim. He was subsequently confronted and surrounded by other students.
