UNM's Doctoral Programme in Informatics Prepares Future Researchers and Technology Leaders

The rapid pace of technological development is changing the way people work, learn, and innovate. Amidst this swift digital transformation, the need for human resources capable of creating new technology through research and innovation is increasing. Responding to this challenge, Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), as a Digital Business Campus, is presenting its S3 Informatics Study Programme as a platform for professionals, academics, and researchers who wish to contribute to Indonesia’s technological development. Head of UNM’s Jatiwaringin Campus, Sofian Wira Hadi, stated that doctoral education is not merely about continuing studies to a higher level, but is an intellectual investment to generate innovations that impact society. “S3 education is not only about deepening knowledge, but also about producing research that can provide real solutions for technological development and societal needs. Currently, our nation needs more researchers who are able to answer various challenges through research-based innovation,” he said. According to Sofian, technological developments such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, and digital transformation open up significant opportunities for new innovations. However, these opportunities can only be seized if supported by quality research and human resources with strong academic competence. “UNM’s S3 Informatics Study Programme is designed to equip students with the ability to conduct advanced research, produce reputable scientific publications, and develop innovations that meet the needs of industry and society,” he said. He added that students are also encouraged to develop research in various strategic fields, from artificial intelligence and cyber security to cloud computing, large-scale data analysis, and digital technology that supports national development. “Research is the main foundation for creating innovation. Through quality research, various solutions are born that can enhance the nation’s competitiveness, accelerate digital transformation, and provide real benefits to the wider community,” he asserted. In addition to strengthening research competence, he explained, doctoral students receive training in advanced research methodology, academic leadership, international publications, and opportunities to build research collaborations with various national and international institutions. “These competencies open up wide career opportunities for graduates, whether as academics, researchers, technology consultants, innovators, technology policy analysts, or strategic leaders in government agencies, research centres, universities, and technology-based companies,” he stressed. As a Digital Business Campus, UNM continues to strengthen its research and innovation culture through the provision of doctoral education relevant to global technological developments.
