UNM Students Dive into KKP Cyber Security, Proof Digital Business Campus Produces Industry-Ready Talent
Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), a digital business campus, has again demonstrated the quality of its students through an industrial internship programme that provides real work experience at strategic national institutions. One example is Rizqi Ardiansah, a student of the Informatics S1 Study Programme at UNM’s Faculty of Information Technology, who successfully completed a three-month internship in the Network and Cyber Security Division of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) from 2 March to 1 June 2026. During the internship, Rizqi was directly involved in various activities related to the configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of network infrastructure and cyber security. This experience gave him the opportunity to understand the implementation of information technology in supporting operations and protecting digital assets within a government environment. Rizqi admitted that the internship at KKP was an important moment in his academic journey because it provided an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in lectures to real work situations. “The internship at KKP provided invaluable experience for me. I not only learned about network management and cyber security, but also understood how technology is used to safeguard information security in government agencies. This experience made me more confident and understand the professional standards required in the world of work,” he said. According to him, the professional work environment and support from mentors during the internship helped him develop technical skills as well as improve communication, team collaboration, and problem-solving abilities. Head of the Informatics S1 Study Programme at UNM, Arfhan Prasetyo, stated that industrial internship experience is an important part of the learning process for students to understand the needs of the working world directly. “As a Digital Business Campus, Universitas Nusa Mandiri not only equips students with theory in the classroom but also provides opportunities to implement their competencies through real industry experience. Rizqi’s success in completing his internship at the KKP’s Network and Cyber Security Division shows that UNM Informatics students have relevant capabilities needed by various strategic sectors,” Arfhan said. He explained that the project undertaken by Rizqi reflects competencies built through a project-based curriculum aligned with industry needs. According to him, the ability to manage networks and cyber security requires a combination of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and high precision. “Students must be able to translate technical knowledge into impactful solutions. Through structured internship programmes, they learn to face workplace challenges, understand professional standards, and develop the adaptability that is highly needed in the era of digital transformation,” Arfhan said. He affirmed that the UNM Informatics Study Programme continues to strengthen collaboration with various government institutions and national companies to open more opportunities for student competency development. “In line with the spirit of ‘Turning Dreams into Achievements’, Universitas Nusa Mandiri as a Digital Business Campus is committed to providing education relevant to industry needs through various excellent programmes, including internships, certifications, research, and strategic collaborations,” Arfhan concluded. Through experiences like the one Rizqi underwent, UNM continues to encourage the birth of graduates who are adaptive, competent, and ready to contribute to the development of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
