UNM Students Create Mobile Application to Train Children's Focus, Available on PlayStore
Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), known as the Digital Business Campus, has once again demonstrated its commitment to delivering practical technological innovation.
Two students from the Information Systems programme, Tiara Putri Ad’haini and Adinda Wulandari, have successfully developed and released the Android application “Focus and Attention Trainer”. This application has been designed to help train and enhance children’s focus through interactive exercises.
The “Focus and Attention Trainer” application was developed as a self-directed learning tool with a child-friendly and easy-to-use interface. It features various functions, including breathing exercises, focus training, and interactive games specifically designed to help gradually improve children’s concentration and attention.
According to Tiara, the application was created based on general knowledge and educational references, and did not undergo medical research or clinical testing, therefore it is not intended as a replacement for professional therapy.
She and her colleague were motivated to address concerns about children who frequently struggle to maintain focus whilst studying.
“We wanted to present a digital solution that is simple yet beneficial. Through interactive and enjoyable exercises, we hope children can gradually develop the habit of maintaining focus,” Tiara stated.
Adinda added that a game-based approach was chosen to make the training process more engaging. “The application is designed to be child-friendly and easy to understand, so it can be used independently as supplementary practice in daily activities,” she said.
The innovation received recognition from the Nusa Mandiri Innovation Center (NIC), the university’s centre for developing student creativity and innovation.
NIC Head Fitra Septia Nugraha expressed pride in the achievements of the Information Systems programme students.
“The launch of Focus and Attention Trainer demonstrates that UNM students are capable of presenting digital solutions relevant to community needs. This is a concrete demonstration of applying academic competence to technology products,” Fitra said.
He added that NIC will continue to encourage students to develop ideas into products that can benefit the broader community.
“We want to strengthen innovation culture. Students should not only create ideas but also have the courage to release and publicise their work. NIC is ready to support this process,” he added.
The Focus and Attention Trainer application has officially been released and is available for download on Google Play Store.
Through this innovation, UNM’s Information Systems programme students have once again affirmed their role as a Digital Business Campus in nurturing young talent that is creative, adaptable, and capable of delivering educational technology solutions with meaningful impact on society.
