UNM Opens Highly Accredited PhD Programme in Informatics
Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM) has officially opened enrolment for its Informatics doctoral programme, which holds ‘Unggul’ (Excellent) accreditation. The strategic move is intended to produce researchers and information technology specialists able to compete globally.
As a Digital Business Campus, UNM has designed the doctoral programme to offer flexible instalment payments and a focus on applied research. This approach is tailored to the rapidly evolving needs of the digital industry.
The programme provides a structured route through doctoral research. Guided by the principle “Study – Research – Innovate – Contribute”, students are expected to complete their studies in six to 10 semesters.
The curriculum offers two strategic specialisations: Computer Science, with a focus on artificial intelligence, and Data Science and Biomedical Informatics, which combines informatics with the medical sector.
The total tuition fee for the doctoral programme is Rp105 million, payable in instalments each semester. Applicants must hold a master’s degree in a field within the computer science discipline.
UNM, known as a Digital Business Campus, has received ‘Unggul’ accreditation from the relevant authority. The accreditation reflects high academic standards and the availability of research facilities for academics, professionals and researchers.
Under the “Study – Research – Innovate – Contribute” approach, the programme provides a structured guide to doctoral research, or “Your Doctoral Research Journey”. Students receive step-by-step guidance, from strengthening their research foundations and preparing a proposal to conducting research, publishing internationally and defending their dissertation.
All supervision is provided by doctoral-qualified lecturers with deep expertise in information technology. The experienced academics are ready to support students in completing their studies on time.
The UNM Informatics doctoral programme offers two strategic specialisations designed to address future technological challenges and provide broad scope for academic exploration.
The Computer Science specialisation focuses on fundamental and applied computer science research. Its main areas of study include artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, data science and intelligent systems.
Biomedical Informatics, meanwhile, is an interdisciplinary specialisation combining informatics and medicine. Research areas include data management, computing systems and the development of technology for biomedical applications, with the aim of driving innovation in healthcare.
The doctoral programme is designed to take a minimum of six semesters and a maximum of 10. Classes are scheduled to begin in March and September.
Applicants must provide their undergraduate and master’s degree certificates and academic transcripts and meet the programme’s entry requirements. Specifically, their master’s degree must be in a computer science-related field, with a minimum grade point average of 3.00.
Applicants must also submit valid academic aptitude and English-language certificates. Required documents include an initial draft research proposal to be developed during the programme.
Before starting the programme, applicants must pay an initial registration fee of Rp500,000. A further Rp450,000 is charged for the university blazer and must be paid at the time of registration.
Total tuition through to graduation is Rp105 million, payable flexibly by semester. Tuition for semesters one, two and three is Rp20 million per semester.
For semesters four, five and six, tuition is Rp15 million per semester. The staged payment policy is intended to ease the financial burden on students during their studies.
