Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), as a Digital Business Campus, has once again demonstrated its commitment to producing innovative digital talent through student work capable of addressing real challenges in society. Muhammad Ibnu Fauzan, a student of UNM’s Master of Informatics programme, has developed a blockchain-based waqf management website to improve the transparency, security and accountability of waqf management in Indonesia.

The innovation emerged as a solution to various challenges in waqf governance, ranging from record-keeping transparency and data security to public accessibility. By leveraging blockchain technology, the system creates a more modern, efficient and trustworthy waqf management mechanism.

Through this system, every transaction and waqf management process is recorded permanently, minimising the risk of data manipulation, improving accountability and strengthening public trust in waqf management institutions.

The website also has the potential to be integrated with the digital systems of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, supporting the acceleration of the national digital transformation of waqf management. Such integration is expected to strengthen waqf governance, making it more effective, transparent and suited to the needs of the digital era.

Blockchain technology was chosen as the main foundation because it offers a decentralised, secure recording system that can be audited at any time. With these characteristics, the technology can maintain data integrity, reduce the risk of information loss and reinforce the principle of amanah (trustworthiness) in managing waqf funds.

Muhammad Ibnu Fauzan said technology should not merely be a symbol of progress, but should also deliver real benefits to society.

“Technology is not just about advancement, but about how it brings benefits to others. I hope this innovation can help realise waqf governance that is more transparent, easily accessible and increasingly trusted by the public,” he said.

The Head of UNM’s Master of Informatics programme, Agus Subekti, commended the innovation as a form of research with direct social impact.

“We encourage our Master of Informatics students to produce research that does not stop as academic work, but becomes a solution to real problems. The development of this blockchain-based waqf website shows that Universitas Nusa Mandiri students can integrate cutting-edge technology with social needs, producing useful innovations with potential for wider development,” he said in a press release received on Friday (10 July 2026).

He added that mastery of technologies such as blockchain is an important competency for master’s graduates amid rapid digital transformation.

“Blockchain has great potential to be applied across various sectors, including philanthropy, finance, government and public services. That is why we continue to strengthen our research and innovation ecosystem so that students can produce digital solutions relevant to the needs of industry and society,” he said.

This achievement proves that students of UNM’s Master of Informatics programme can produce innovative work that is not only oriented towards scientific development, but also responds to societal needs through the use of information technology.

As a Digital Business Campus, Universitas Nusa Mandiri continues to strengthen its culture of research, innovation and collaboration through technology-based education that adapts to industry developments. This commitment aligns with the spirit of “Ubah Mimpi Jadi Prestasi” (Turn Dreams into Achievements), which encourages students to produce innovative work with an impact on society, industry and government.

Through synergy between education, research and technological development, Universitas Nusa Mandiri is optimistic it can continue to produce graduates who excel not only academically, but also serve as agents of digital transformation capable of delivering innovative solutions for the nation’s progress.
