UNM Informatics Students Participate in Internship Programme at Bank Mandiri
Maria Olivia, a seventh-semester student in the Informatics Study Programme, Faculty of Information Technology, at Nusa Mandiri University (UNM), is currently undergoing the Internship Experience Program (IEP) 3+1 at PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, Singkawang Branch, West Kalimantan. During this internship, Maria is assigned to the Back Office department to support banking operational activities.
As a Digital Business Campus, UNM facilitates this programme through the Nusa Mandiri Career Center (NCC) to bridge academic theory with the professional world. Despite studying Informatics, Maria is able to apply her skills in data processing, systematic logic, and problem-solving to manage administrative information.
Maria expressed her gratitude for this opportunity, stating that she intends to use it to adapt to a professional working environment while honing soft skills such as discipline and communication.
“I am very happy to have received this opportunity to gain direct work experience, apply the knowledge learned during lectures, and familiarise myself with a professional working environment,” Maria said in a statement on Thursday (17/9).
Meanwhile, the Head of the Nusa Mandiri Career Center (NCC), Muhammad Faisal, M.Kom, stated that the IEP 3+1 programme is designed to foster professional attitudes and mindsets in students from an early stage.
“The IEP is designed so that students do not only understand the world of work from a theoretical perspective, but also gain direct experience in how an organisation or company conducts its business processes. Therefore, students study for three years and spend one year interning in the industry,” said Faisal.
Furthermore, the Head of the UNM Informatics Study Programme, Arfian Prasetyo, also appreciated the internship opportunity as evidence of the wide application of technological science across various industrial sectors.
“We appreciate the opportunity obtained by Maria to learn directly within the banking environment through the IEP programme. Experiences like this are important because Informatics students need to understand that technological competence can be applied to various fields and business processes,” he noted.
This internship experience strengthens the readiness of UNM students to face future career challenges. Through the synergy between the university and the industrial world, students are expected to become more confident in stepping out of their comfort zones to develop their potential sustainably.
