Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), as a Digital Business Campus, continues to expand opportunities for students to gain professional experience through apprenticeship programmes aligned with industry needs. This effort was discussed in an online meeting between UNM and WhatsApp on Thursday (20/8/2026).

The meeting was attended by Hans, Business Development, and Richardo, HR Manager, from WhatsApp. UNM was represented by Muhammad Faisal, Head of the Nusa Mandiri Career Center (NCC), along with his team, as well as representatives from Public Relations and the Office of International Affairs (KUI) of UNM.

The discussion focused on opportunities for implementing an apprenticeship programme for UNM students. The programme is expected to provide direct experience in a work environment while developing competencies relevant to the needs of the digital industry.

Muhammad Faisal said that apprenticeship is one of UNM’s steps in preparing students to have practical experience before entering the professional world.

“Through the apprenticeship programme, students are expected to experience first-hand how work processes and culture operate in industry. We also ensure that student placements are aligned with the competencies and learning outcomes of each study programme,” he said in a release received on Tuesday (25/8/2026).

In this meeting, a number of apprenticeship opportunities were also discussed, including Local Supply Chain Management, Human Resources, Business Development Community Channel, and Business Development Insurance Channel.

“These fields are considered to have relevance to a number of study programmes at UNM, such as Management, Digital Business, Information Systems, Informatics, and Data Science. Student placements will later consider the suitability of competencies with the needs of available positions,” said Faisal.

He emphasised that this meeting is an initial step to follow up on apprenticeship opportunities between Universitas Nusa Mandiri and WhatsApp. Both parties will next coordinate regarding position requirements, selection mechanisms, student placements, as well as administration and cooperation documents.

“Collaboration with industry is part of UNM’s commitment to providing learning that is increasingly close to professional needs. As a Digital Business Campus, UNM continues to encourage the birth of graduates who are adaptive, competent, and ready to face the dynamics of the digital industry,” said Faisal.

In line with this, UNM has an Internship Experience Program (IEP) 3+1, where students study for only 3 years and spend 1 year interning in industry.
