UNM Data Science Students Reach IEEE YESIST12 2026 Grand Final with AI-Powered iMosque App
Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), a digital business campus, has achieved another proud milestone on the international stage. A team of Data Science students, known as Team Hello World, has successfully advanced to the Grand Final of the IEEE YESIST12 2026, a prestigious technology innovation competition that brings together young talents from various countries.
The team, consisting of Muhamad Lintang Sauattamim, Nouval Ghoonimu Tsawab, Kasa Inti Josia Tambunan, and Muhammad Azzam, qualified after passing a rigorous selection process and presenting before an international panel of judges. They will compete in the Grand Final of IEEE YESIST12 2026, which will be held in a hybrid format on 2–3 October 2026 at the BSI Convention Centre, Jl Kali Abang Tengah No 8, Perwira, Bekasi.
In the Special Track: Smart Innovations for Better Everyday Life, Team Hello World presented iMosque, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based companion application designed to support Muslim worship activities through a single integrated platform. This innovation supports the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Number 11, which concerns sustainable cities and communities through the use of inclusive and beneficial digital technology.
Team Hello World leader Muhamad Lintang Saujana Attamim explained that the idea for developing iMosque arose from the community’s need, as users currently have to switch between multiple applications to fulfil their daily worship needs. “We saw that many users had to move from one application to another to access prayer schedules, the Qur’an, religious consultations, and mosque information. Through iMosque, we want to present a single platform that can meet these needs in a more practical, personal, and intelligent way using AI technology,” he said.
The iMosque application is equipped with various key features, including location-based prayer schedules, an offline Qur’an, AI Tafsir, a search for the nearest mosque, consultations with verified ustaz, digital study broadcasts, and a Safar Mode feature that helps users find mosques along their journey.
Lintang stated that reaching the Grand Final of IEEE YESIST12 2026 is a valuable experience and a motivation to continue developing innovations that provide broad benefits to society. “Being able to compete in an international event and meet participants from various countries is a very valuable opportunity. We hope iMosque can continue to grow and make a real contribution to society while bringing a good name to Universitas Nusa Mandiri globally,” he said.
Head of the Data Science Study Programme at Universitas Nusa Mandiri, Tati Mardiana, expressed her appreciation for the students’ achievement. She noted that the success is the result of project-based learning combined with industry experience through the Internship Experience Programme (IEP), a scheme involving three years of study and one year of internship. “We encourage students not only to understand theory but also to be able to create data-based and artificial intelligence solutions that answer society’s needs. This achievement shows that UNM Data Science students possess excellent innovation, collaboration, and global competitiveness skills,” she said.
She added that student involvement in international competitions is an important means of sharpening creativity, research skills, and expanding global networks that will be beneficial when entering the professional world.
