UNM Brings Indonesian Innovation to the World, IEEE YESIST12 2026 Set for October

Indonesia will become a stage for the world’s young talent to meet and produce technological solutions that have an impact on society. Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), as a Digital Business Campus, has been entrusted to host the IEEE YESIST12 (Youth Endeavors for Social Innovation using Sustainable Technology) Grand Finale 2026 in Indonesia.

The prestigious innovation forum and technology competition under the auspices of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest technical professional organisation, will take place on 2-3 October 2026 at the BSI Convention Center, Kaliabang, North Bekasi, West Java.

The trust placed in UNM to host this international event is a momentum for Indonesia to showcase the strength of its young talent amid global technological developments. The event is projected to bring together students, young researchers, academics, innovators, professionals, and industry players from various countries.

More than a competition, IEEE YESIST12 is a collaborative space for the younger generation to create technology-based innovations capable of addressing social issues while supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Various competition categories will feature in the IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale 2026, ranging from the Innovation Challenge Track, MakerFair Track, WePOWER Track, iENGAGE Track, Special Track, to the Junior Einstein Track. Various innovative ideas will intersect with strategic issues such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), sustainable energy, digital health, educational technology, and smart cities.

The presence of these various fields shows that technology no longer stops at the sophistication of devices or systems. Technology is required to be a tool for solving real problems, improving quality of life, and creating a more sustainable future.

As host, UNM has a strategic position to connect Indonesia’s young talent with the international innovation network built by IEEE together with various global partners. This momentum also strengthens the role of higher education institutions in building a research, innovation, and cross-border collaboration ecosystem.

UNM Rector Dwiza Riana said the trust to host the IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale 2026 is both an honour and a great opportunity for UNM and Indonesia to demonstrate the capacity of the younger generation in delivering impactful innovation.

“Hosting the IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale 2026 is an honour for Universitas Nusa Mandiri as well as a great opportunity for Indonesia to showcase the potential of its young generation at the international level. We hope this forum will produce innovations that are not only technologically superior but also provide real benefits for society and the environment,” she said in a press release received on Monday (31/8/2026).

According to Dwiza, international collaboration such as IEEE YESIST12 is an important space for students and the younger generation to test ideas, exchange perspectives, expand networks, and understand that social challenges in the digital era require solutions that are not only creative but also sustainable.

“The holding of the IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale 2026 in Indonesia is also an opportunity for local talent to interact directly with participants from various countries. This exchange of ideas is expected to open new collaborative spaces while encouraging the birth of innovations capable of competing at the global level,” she said.

For UNM, she added, this momentum is in line with its commitment as a Digital Business Campus to encourage students and the academic community not only to be users of technology but also to be able to create innovations that provide value and benefits for society.

“By bringing together competition, collaboration, and knowledge exchange in one forum, the IEEE YESIST12 Grand Finale 2026 is expected to become a stage that connects fresh ideas with real needs. From Indonesia, the innovations of the younger generation will be tested, brought together, and encouraged to cross national borders,” she said.
