JAKARTA – Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM) and Batangas State University (BatStateU) in the Philippines have officially launched the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Technopreneurship 2026 programme. The international programme opened with an online Joint Opening and Orientation on Friday, 9 October 2026.

Under the theme “Reaching Ideas, Cultivating Innovation, Building a Global Future”, the programme brings together UNM students and students from BatStateU’s College of Informatics and Computing Sciences (CICS). Participants will collaborate to design technology-based business solutions to meet community needs.

BatStateU JPLPC Malvar Chancellor Dr Romel U. Briones stressed the importance of cross-border collaboration in turning ideas into practical solutions. He said impactful innovation begins with the willingness to exchange ideas and openness to new perspectives.

“Through the COIL Technopreneurship programme, we hope students will broaden their knowledge, build confidence and creativity, and develop their ability to work together. Technopreneurship encourages us to turn ideas into practical solutions by making use of technology,” Briones said.

BatStateU JPLPC Malvar Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr Dennis B. Legaspi added that international academic activities extend beyond the conventional classroom. He urged participants to use the opportunity to expand their global networks.

“Programmes such as COIL show that learning does not have to be confined to the classroom. Students are the most important part, and we hope they will make the most of this opportunity to learn new things and share experiences,” Legaspi said.

UNM Vice Rector II for Non-Academic Affairs and head of its International Office, Arif Hidayat, welcomed the partnership. He described COIL as a strategic way to develop skills ranging from design thinking to the creation of a minimum viable product (MVP).

“Through this programme, students will not only develop their business modelling and design-thinking skills, but also build empathy and experience global digital collaboration. We encourage them to step outside their comfort zones and produce innovation with a real impact,” he said in a statement received on Friday, 9 October 2026.

The team-based projects are scheduled to culminate in the International Final Pitch on 11 December 2026. Through the partnership, UNM, known as a Digital Business Campus, is continuing to strengthen its adaptive learning ecosystem to develop internationally minded digital talent.
