UNM Alumni Penetrates Malaysian Technology Company, Proof that Graduates are Ready for Global Competition
Working abroad is no longer just a dream for graduates of Indonesian private universities. With relevant competencies and mature project experience, global career opportunities are increasingly open.
This is proven by Dani Fikri, an alumnus of Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), who is currently working as a Software Developer at Starvision Information Technology Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.
Located in Kota Damansara, Selangor, Dani is entrusted with handling frontend architecture development for the Akademi Kesuma platform. Using modern technologies like Vue.js, he builds responsive, modular, and performance-optimised systems. He also collaborates with UI/UX teams and backend developers across vendors to ensure effective RESTful API integration and deliver an intuitive user experience.
Dani’s career journey was not achieved instantly. Before breaking into the technology industry in Malaysia, he first honed his experience in Indonesia. Dani previously served as a Back End Developer at Gramedia for three years, even leading a small team in developing systems with consistent clean code standards.
Since 2019, he has also been active as an independent software developer, working on various mobile and web projects, from disaster reporting applications and mobile-based military apps to export-import platforms.
Dani’s academic foundation was obtained from Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), known as the Digital Business Campus. He studied in the field of Business/Digital Marketing/Technology, which strengthened the combination of business understanding and technology. Mastery of technical skills such as Python, TypeScript, and Full-Stack Development further enhances his competitiveness at the international level.
UNM’s Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Sopian Wira Hadi, stated that alumni achievements on the global stage serve as an indicator of the relevance of the campus curriculum and learning ecosystem.
“The success of Dani Fikri in working at a Malaysian technology company is proof that UNM graduates as the Digital Business Campus possess competencies recognised internationally. We do not only equip students with theory, but also project experience, technical skill strengthening, and readiness to face global industry standards,” he said in a press release received on Monday (23/3/2026).
He added that amid the acceleration of digital transformation, the need for technology talent is expanding without national boundaries.
“We encourage students to build portfolios from their university days, engage in real projects, and develop relevant certifications to be ready to compete not only in Indonesia but also in the global market,” he added.
Dani Fikri’s story serves as a real illustration that with preparation, competencies, and a learning mindset, international career opportunities are wide open. From classrooms in Indonesia to a technology company in Malaysia, his steps affirm that Universitas Nusa Mandiri graduates as the Digital Business Campus are capable of breaking boundaries and contributing on the global stage.
