UNM Adopts Google AI to Drive More Innovative Research and Learning
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI - Nusa Mandiri University (UNM), a Digital Business Campus with the tagline ‘Turn Dreams into Achievements,’ continues to strengthen its digital innovation ecosystem through the Nusa Mandiri Innovation Center (NIC). This commitment is demonstrated through NIC’s participation in the AI Universe Roadmap Workshop: Advancing Academic Innovation and Research in Higher Education with Google AI, which took place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Aston Imperial Bekasi.
This activity is a strategic step in addressing the needs of higher education, which is increasingly driven by the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. In this forum, NIC explored various latest AI solutions that have the potential to be implemented in the learning and research processes within the campus environment.
One of the technologies that became the main focus was NotebookLM, an AI innovation from Google designed to support research activities and knowledge management. Through a live demonstration, this technology can help understand complex documents, automatically summarise information, and generate data-based insights quickly and accurately.
The use of NotebookLM is considered to open up great opportunities in improving the quality of research by lecturers and students. This technology enables the literature study process to be more efficient, accelerates the preparation of scientific papers, and encourages the birth of more innovative and relevant research ideas for industry needs.
Head of the Nusa Mandiri Innovation Center (NIC), Fitra Septia Nugraha, said that the adoption of AI technology is an important step in academic transformation in the digital era.
“Technology like NotebookLM is not just a tool, but has become a partner in the research and learning process. With AI support, students and lecturers can work faster, more accurately, and generate deeper insights. This is a concrete step by NIC in encouraging technology-based innovation in the campus environment,” he said in a release received on Friday, May 15, 2026.
In addition to NotebookLM, this workshop also introduced Gemini AI technology, which plays a role in increasing academic productivity. However, the main focus on NotebookLM provides a new perspective that AI can act as a thinking partner in the development of science.
Through this participation, NIC reaffirms its role as a driving force for innovation at Nusa Mandiri University. The integration of AI technology is expected to not only improve the quality of research but also strengthen the research-based learning model that is adaptive to the times.
“This step also strengthens the position of Nusa Mandiri University as a Digital Business Campus that consistently presents technology-based educational innovations. With the support of a continuously developing digital ecosystem, UNM is optimistic that it can produce graduates who are not only competent but also ready to compete in the era of AI and global digital transformation,” he said.
