JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has revealed allegations of civilian involvement in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS). TAUD member Airlangga Julio stated that they have identified at least 16 individuals suspected of involvement in the incident, including possible civilian participation. “We have not yet been able to determine the detailed identities or units of these 16 perpetrators. However, among these 16, there is at least civilian involvement,” Airlangga said at the National Human Rights Commission office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (31/3/2026). “Therefore, it is clear and important that this process must be carried out through the general courts,” he stressed. Airlangga added that the number of involved parties is suspected not to stop at the 16 identified individuals. According to him, there is still the possibility of involvement from other parties, such as those giving commands, providing the acid, and facilitating the pouring action. TAUD, Airlangga continued, has submitted the developments of their investigation results to several parties, including the police. “We have also requested the police to provide us with a special case presentation session,” Airlangga revealed. This step is intended to allow TAUD to present their investigation findings and additional evidence that has been independently analysed. Previously, TAUD’s legal team member, Fadil Alfathan, stated that the number of involved parties could still increase significantly. Fadil assessed the attack as a planned operation, from surveillance to execution. TAUD’s investigation was conducted through analysis of surveillance camera recordings (CCTV), which are said to complement the chronology that has not yet been fully revealed. Based on these findings, the 16 individuals are suspected of having different roles, from observing the victim’s movements, tailing, carrying out the pouring, to conditioning the situation on the ground.
