University Strengthens MSMEs Through AccounTax and Packaging Design Training
Financial recording limitations and unattractive packaging remain significant challenges for MSMEs, including the food-based MSMEs under the auspices of the UP2K Jatibening Family Income Improvement Business in Bekasi. Amidst increasingly competitive business landscapes, MSME entrepreneurs require skills in financial management, tax calculation, and creating more informative and competitive product packaging.
In response to these issues, Universitas Trilogi is conducting a community service programme themed ‘Strengthening UP2K Jatibening Food MSMEs through Financial Digital Transformation and Product Packaging Design Improvement’. This collaborative effort between lecturers and students is funded by the Directorate of Research and Community Service, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, under the 2026 BIMA Grant Scheme.
Project Leader Rizka Ramayanti, Ph.D., stated that the programme addresses two primary partner concerns: inconsistent financial recording and sub-optimal packaging as a marketing medium. The programme focuses on digital financial transformation via the AccounTax application and enhancing product competitiveness through improved packaging design. Both elements are expected to help MSMEs manage their businesses more professionally and present more attractive products.
The initiative involves 10 home-based food MSMEs and consists of two main modules. The first module covers digital financial transformation, where participants are trained to record business transactions, prepare financial statements, and calculate MSME Income Tax using the AccounTax app. Dr Nurul Aisyah Rachmawati noted that while many MSMEs have high-quality products, they often lack organised financial records; the app is intended to foster more disciplined transaction recording to aid business decision-making.
The second module focuses on improving product packaging design, facilitated by Erneza Dewi Krishnasary, M.Ds. Participants are guided on the importance of packaging as a marketing strategy, covering colour selection, design elements, layout, typography, brand identity, and essential product information. Participants were also introduced to Canva as a simple design tool to create more attractive labels and packaging.
Through hands-on practice, participants are learning to implement these digital tools with assistance from university students. Universitas Trilogi remains committed to impactful community service programmes that support digital transformation, financial literacy, and local economic empowerment.
