University status

I am student of an academy in Jakarta. The academy is registered with the government. I am also a graduate from a private university in Jakarta which has the same status as a government university.

At this academy I must take state examinations for some subjects which I have done previously in the university where I got my degree. The academy insisted I take the state examination, or Kopertis (Coordinator for Private Universities) will not issue my diploma.

This gives me the impression that Kopertis does not recognize the status of the university from which I have graduated. Could the Kopertis please explain?
