University of Indonesia Students March from Senayan to Bundaran HI in Protest
Students marched on foot from Semanggi to the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia roundabout in Jakarta on Friday (12/6/2026). They walked approximately 6.5 kilometres after police intercepted their vehicles to prevent the protest from being held at Bundaran HI. The group departed from in front of the Parliament complex in Senayan around 1 p.m. local time, after two minibuses carrying the group were stopped in the Semanggi area. The vehicles subsequently headed to the House of Representatives. Meanwhile, CNBC Indonesia observed police officers on motorcycles standing by at the Bundaran HI area to anticipate the arrival of demonstrators. Traffic heading towards Graha Mandiri on Jalan Imam Bonjol was also closed with barriers by police. In their action, the students brought five demands: first, calling on the government to stop wasting the state budget; second, to lower the prices of staple goods and fuel; third, to halt the Free Nutritious Meal programme and the development of the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives; fourth, to end civilian militarism; and fifth, demanding that President Prabowo Subianto stop evading responsibility and acknowledge the government’s mistakes.
