University of Indonesia Law Faculty Student Harassment Chat Group Named Basecamp Puri Asih, Originating from Boarding House
DEPOK, KOMPAS.com - The chat group consisting of 16 students from the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Law (FH UI) began as a boarding house chat group. The social media LINE chat group was named “Basecamp Puri Asih”. “As far as I know, it initially was a boarding house group. But how it developed into that (discussing sexual harassment), I don’t know,” said Anandaku Dimas Rumi Chattaristo, Chairman of the Student Executive Board of FH UI, when met on the UI campus in Depok, West Java, on Tuesday (14/4/2026). He said that after investigation, the group was created in 2024. “Initially, it was groups for students in the same boarding house,” said Timotius. Timo explained that the alleged sexual harassment case experienced by 27 victims by 16 FH UI students began with the leak of the perpetrators’ chat group. One of the chat group members, who was also a perpetrator, leaked the information to the victims. “But initially, it was a transit boarding house. Not only they who lived there,” said Timo. Timo revealed that the perpetrator was forced to leak the chat. The perpetrator realised he had made a mistake. “Initially, one of the group members for some reason ended up leaking the information to the victims,” he said. Information about the chat group and its contents was first leaked by the perpetrator in 2025. However, the details of the group’s contents were not conveyed. With the leak of this information, the victims have known since 2025 that they were objects of alleged sexual harassment. “That’s why when they see it, they feel hurt, sad, heartbroken, ashamed, and so on,” he explained.
