Universities ink cooperation deal

DEPOK, West Java: The University of Indonesia (UI) and Malaysia National University (UKM) signed here on Monday a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in medical and health research.

UI spokesperson Henny S. Widyaningsih said the agreement would allow the universities to exchange research material, lecturers and students for studies and other activities, including workshops, seminars and symposiums.

UI Rector Usman Chatib Warsa and UKM Vice Chancellor Dato Mohd. Salleh Yasin signed the memorandum in a ceremony attended by Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Dato H. Hamidon and Indonesia's director general of higher education, Satryo S. Brodjonegoro.

UI and UKM have had ties for years under an international university cooperation program. -- JP
