Universiti Malaysia Terengganu Visit Strengthens Unej's International Network

Jember, East Java (ANTARA) - A visit by a delegation from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) to the Universitas Jember (Unej) campus in Jember Regency, East Java, demonstrates the campus’s efforts to strengthen its international network, particularly with countries in the ASEAN region. Unej Rector Iwan Taruna received the UMT delegation at the Senate Meeting Room of the campus Rectorate Building on Wednesday (17/6). “Strengthening international networks is an important part of efforts to improve the quality of higher education,” said Unej Rector Iwan Taruna in his welcoming remarks for the UMT delegation. “It is our commitment to continue developing international networks, especially with countries in the ASEAN region. We hope the good relations that have been established can continue to grow and provide benefits for both institutions,” he said. The visit was part of efforts to strengthen institutional relations while opening a space for discussion on various potential academic collaborations between the two universities. Meanwhile, Secretary to the Director of the Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS), Rafidah Binti Tah, appreciated the welcome given by Unej and said the visit was a good opportunity to get to know each other better, as well as to exchange information and experiences with the Unej academic community. “Through this visit, we had the opportunity to become more familiar with the various programmes and activities run by Universitas Jember and to exchange views on cooperation opportunities that can be developed in the future,” she said. As a symbol of friendship and good relations between the two institutions, the event continued with an exchange of mementoes between Universitas Jember and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. In addition to student exchanges, the discussion between the two campuses also highlighted broader collaboration opportunities, ranging from lecturer exchanges and joint research to collaborative scientific publications. “The participants viewed that the similarities in scientific fields between Unej and UMT can be a significant asset for developing various academic activities in the future,” he said. Through this visit, Unej and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu further strengthened their institutional relations while opening up collaboration opportunities that can be developed in the fields of education, research, and human resource development in the future.
