Universitas Pamulang Continues to Embrace Students with Disabilities
Universitas Pamulang (Unpam) is continuously working to increase the involvement of students with disabilities in university activities within the campus academic community. This is being achieved by strengthening synergies in the development of advocacy programmes, capacity enhancement, and inclusive and sustainable social campaigns.
On Tuesday (21/4/2026), Unpam through its Disability Services Agency (LLD) held an international seminar titled “Public Communication, Disability Rights Advocacy and Social Campaign Management”. The event also served as part of the commemoration of Kartini Day, featuring inspirational female speakers in their fields.
The seminar, held at the UNPAM Teleconference Room in Building C, Jalan Raya Puspitek, South Tangerang, was attended by Vice Rector III Dr Dameis Surya Anggara, Vice Rector IV Prof Oksidelfa Yanto, as well as deans, programme heads, agency directors, lecturers, and students as participants.
The event began with a report from the Head of LLD UNPAM, Dr Nani Rusnaeni, who emphasised the importance of strengthening the capacity of students with disabilities in public communication and rights advocacy.
“Students with disabilities need to be encouraged to articulate their ideas, fight for their rights, and emerge as agents of change in public spaces,” said Nani, as quoted by the campus.
In his remarks, Vice Rector III of UNPAM, Dr Dameis Surya Anggara, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting inclusive education. “We are committed to ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to develop. This event is a concrete step in equipping students with disabilities with relevant skills,” he stated.
As a key part of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between UNPAM and Koneksi Indonesia Inklusif, Seknas FITRA, and Komisi Penyiaran Indonesia. This collaboration is expected to strengthen synergies in developing advocacy programmes, capacity building, and inclusive and sustainable social campaigns.
Entering the main session, the seminar featured international speaker Prof Dato’ Ts Dr Ahmad Mujahid Ahmad Zaidi from Kolej Antarabangsa Mighty Skills and a lecturer at Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, who presented a global perspective on public communication and disability rights advocacy in the digital era.
Meanwhile, the talkshow session featured female speakers from various professional backgrounds: Mimah Susanti (Commissioner of KPI Central 2022–2025), Nadhifa Nurur Rahma (Koneksi Indonesia Inklusif), and Betta Anugrah (Seknas FITRA). The event was moderated by Afrianti Wulandari, a doctoral candidate and lecturer at Universitas Pamulang.
The event was attended by students with disabilities and general participants both in person and online, with high enthusiasm particularly in the interactive discussion sessions.
Through this event, Unpam has reaffirmed its commitment to building an inclusive educational ecosystem, while encouraging the active role of students with disabilities in public communication, rights advocacy, and social campaigns within society.
The Disability Services Agency (LLD) of Universitas Pamulang was established on 1 August 2017. Its aim is to support students with disabilities in pursuing their studies with equal access. The LLD is not merely a formality but is truly active, including academic and lecture support, counselling and guidance, provision of learning aids, volunteer companions, as well as training and skill development for students with disabilities. To date, the number of graduated and active students with disabilities is nearly 100.
