Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta Secures Funding to Strengthen Disability Services Unit
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) has secured funding from the 2026 Disability Services Unit (ULD) Strengthening Assistance Programme for Higher Education. This decision is based on the Decree from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Number 1727/DST/B2/DT.00.03/2026, dated 20 May 2026.
The strengthening of the UMJ ULD is led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Mutmainah, M.M. She explained that UMJ is committed to providing equal opportunities for all students, including those with disabilities, to access high-quality educational services. According to her, the UMJ ULD continues to develop academic services, facilities, and a campus environment that is more friendly, inclusive, and accessible to everyone.
“This assistance will focus on strengthening the Disability Services Unit through needs assessments for students with disabilities, the preparation of service guidelines and SOPs, training for lecturers and academic staff, the strengthening of academic mentoring programmes, and the development of more accessible infrastructure and services,” said the University Senate Secretary.
She further explained that the UMJ ULD will develop digital-based disability services integrated with UMJ’s accessible learning platforms. Additionally, the university will introduce a more structured mentoring system.
“Students with disabilities will gain easier access to learning, services tailored to their needs, and greater opportunities to grow and achieve excellence,” she stated.
Mutmainah expressed her hope that the UMJ ULD can continue to evolve into a sustainable centre for inclusive educational services and serve as a reference for other higher education institutions. She emphasised the importance of providing an equal, comfortable, and supportive learning environment for all students, including those with disabilities.
With the acquisition of the 2026 Disability Services Unit Strengthening Assistance Programme funding, UMJ is further strengthening its steps towards providing accessible and high-quality educational services for all students, while simultaneously supporting the realisation of inclusive higher education in Indonesia.
