United's profit up 27%

JAKARTA (JP): Heavy equipment supplier PT United Tractor reported an estimated net profit of Rp 74.6 billion (US$31.6 million) last year, up 27 percent from Rp 58.5 billion in 1995.

Frans Santoso, a director at United Tractors, said here Tuesday that the company projected a 23.7 percent increase in net profit this year to Rp 92.3 billion.

The company's total revenues were estimated to reach Rp 1.97 trillion last year and Rp 2.56 trillion this year, up from Rp 1.6 trillion in 1995.

Frans said the main proponent of growth was mining contracting and mining division which grew by 38 percent in the last two years.

Its construction machineries grew by 27 percent, and material handling grew by 7 percent in the past two years. Average growth in the past four years was recorded at 35 percent.

As of September, Komatsu material handling still contributed 47 percent of the total revenues or Rp 464 billion, part and services 23 percent Rp 232 billion, Nissan truck 10 percent Rp 104 billion and others Rp 198 billion. (rid)
