United States claims to have sunk 65+ Iranian vessels
Moscow (ANTARA) - The United States has sunk more than 65 Iranian vessels, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“This operation has only been running for two weeks and we have destroyed the entire naval force of the Iranian regime, we have eliminated nearly all of their ballistic missile threats. In fact, ballistic missile attacks from Iran have decreased by 90 per cent, their drone capability has dropped by 95 per cent,” Leavitt stated.
“We have sunk more than 65 of their naval vessels, we have struck more than 6,000 targets across the country,” Leavitt told Fox News on Saturday.
On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched strikes against targets in Iran, including Tehran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities throughout the Middle East region.
The escalation of tensions surrounding Iran has caused a de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which is the primary shipping lane for oil and liquefied natural gas from Persian Gulf nations to global markets.
Additionally, this situation has also affected the volume of oil exports and production in the region.
