United States Behind Coup Conspiracy, Iranian Ambassador Exposes Washington's Track Record

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Iran’s ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, has levelled sharp criticism against the United States’ track record, which he characterised as orchestrating various upheavals and coup attempts in Iran. Boroujerdi stressed that American claims of wanting to help democracy in Tehran represent a profound contradiction, given Washington’s history of dark intervention spanning decades.

“The irony and another nonsensical claim made by the United States is that they will help Iran in terms of democracy. Of course, the Iranian people have a very long history with America, where in 1953 the United States helped orchestrate a coup in Iran,” stated Mohammad Boroujerdi in his official statement in Jakarta.

He detailed how the United States destroyed Iran’s legitimate government order for its hegemonic interests. According to him, the US was willing to remove democratically elected leaders to restore the monarchical system it could fully control at that time.

“In 1953, the United States helped the Shah of Iran at that time to carry out a coup to replace the legitimate government that came from the voice of the people led by Mohammad Mosaddegh at that time, and this was replaced by a government under the Shah, directly assisted by the United States. Certainly the United States in its actions in Iran in 1953 orchestrated a coup. It gathered various parties to replace Iran’s legitimate government and replaced it with a system led by the Shah at that time,” he explained.

Furthermore, Boroujerdi highlighted the US-Israel alliance’s continued acts of state terrorism, including assassinations of Iranian clerics and military leaders. He questioned the logic of American humanitarianism that claims to want to help the Iranian people, whilst simultaneously causing mass suffering through economic sanctions and direct military attacks.

“Another alliance is that the United States and Israel carry out assassinations of a figure, a cleric, a leader of a country that in his fatwa has stated that various forms of violations, production, use, and sale of weapons of mass destruction including nuclear weapons constitute forbidden acts. Another irony is the claim they make, that the United States wants to help the Iranian people. I want to ask what kind of assistance is this? Up to 200 primary school children became victims. What kind of assistance do they mean?” he emphasised with bitterness.

This senior diplomat also disclosed a lengthy list of US hostilities, ranging from support for Saddam Hussein during the eight-year war, the shooting down of a civilian aircraft in 1988, to the assassination of a renowned anti-ISIS general in 2020. He stated that US assistance to various countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan has left only total destruction and famine in its wake.

“The world certainly is already aware and has long known various types of assistance provided by the United States. We have seen examples of it in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and in various other regions of the world. United States assistance is nothing other than destruction, famine, and total devastation for a country. Is there any other benefit? I do not think so. Let us provide an example where the United States has helped the people of a country and there have been results different from the things I have mentioned,” he said.

Boroujerdi also warned of modern tactics used by US and Israeli intelligence to overthrow Iran’s government through “hijacking” public protest actions. He accused CIA and Mossad agents of infiltrating demonstrators to create maximum casualties as a pretext for launching military attacks against Iran’s sovereignty.

“Before attacking Iran, through economic pressure, they create economic dissatisfaction in our country and society takes to the streets. Then they hijack the peaceful action of the people. After that they carry out a project to create maximum casualties. Of course CIA agents, Mossad agents are in their midst to create many victims, and later under the guise of wanting to support the people conducting demonstrations, they launch attacks against Iran,” he revealed, exposing this modus operandi.
