The United States and Israeli militaries have escalated attacks on Iranian territory, with operations reportedly targeting the residence complex of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

According to reports from Israeli news network Channel 12, cited by AFP on Sunday (1 March 2026), “30 bombs were dropped at the complex. Ali Khamenei is underground, but possibly not in his own bunker.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement following Israel’s attack on Iran, claiming that signs indicate Khamenei may have been killed in the assault launched on Saturday (28 February).

“This morning, in a devastating surprise strike, the residence complex of dictator Ali Khamenei was destroyed in the heart of Tehran… and there are many signs that this dictator is no longer alive,” Netanyahu said in a televised statement.

Iran has not issued any official statement regarding Israel’s claims. The current whereabouts of Ali Khamenei remain unknown.

The Iranian Red Crescent reported on Saturday evening that at least 201 people have been killed and 747 people injured as a result of the Israeli and American attacks.
