Makassar (ANTARA) - Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar and Singapore Polytechnic are collaborating to develop research and innovation supporting the livestock and agriculture sectors in the Tondong Tallasa area, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi, through the International Community Service Learning Express 2026 programme.

The Programme Implementation Committee Chairman, Dr Wildan Burhanuddin, in Makassar on Wednesday, stated that this community empowerment programme will be centred in the Tondong Tallasa area, Pangkep Regency, from 31 March to 10 April 2026.

“There are three community projects that we will carry out. The first is assisting aren sugar farmers, the second is beekeeping, and the third is cattle farming in Tondong Tallasa, Pangkep Regency,” said Wildan.

He explained that the participants, a combination of students from Unismuh Makassar and Singapore Polytechnic, will not only observe but are also required to formulate solutions through a design thinking approach.

“The output is prototyping. Usually, after the activity is completed, the students and lecturers continue to actively consult on the development of those prototypes,” he said.

According to him, the entire programme series has been prepared well in advance, including initial surveys and meetings with the local community since the end of last year.

In this activity, he said, Unismuh is deploying 30 selected students to work collaboratively in community-based service.
