Unisa Clarifies Sanctions for Student Who Infiltrated Women's Toilet

Universitas Aisyiyah (Unisa) Yogyakarta has issued a clarification regarding the sanctions imposed on a student who infiltrated a women’s toilet, stating the individual is currently receiving guidance and has not been subjected to a Drop Out (DO) penalty. This follows earlier reports that a student with a female appearance, as narrated by the account @mkc.Unisa, had been dismissed from the campus. Vice Rector III of Unisa Yogyakarta, Prof Mufdlilah, clarified that the student is undergoing coaching and has not been sanctioned with a drop out. She explained that the university is handling two almost similar cases. The first case occurred some time ago, and the campus decided to drop out the student involved. For the second, more recent case, the student whose appearance was deemed inappropriate is currently receiving guidance from the campus. The university stated it will continue to strengthen its student development system and evaluate policies to ensure a safe, orderly, and conducive academic environment for all members of the academic community. The university also urged all parties to respond to information wisely, prioritise clarification, and avoid spreading personal identities or engaging in bullying against those involved. As an educational institution, Unisa Yogyakarta believes that rule enforcement must go hand in hand with respect for human dignity, ethics, and civilised educational principles. The case gained attention after an Instagram account reported a male Psychology student dressing as a woman and sneaking into the women’s toilet, with the account expressing disappointment that a lecturer allegedly created content with the student instead of taking firm action.
