There was a unique moment following President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto’s speech at the 2026 International Labour Day or May Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Friday (1/5). After delivering his speech, Prabowo decided to remove the brown safari suit he was wearing on the event stage. The eighth President of the Republic of Indonesia then took off the safari and threw it towards the workers. Wearing only a black undershirt on top, Prabowo then approached the thousands of workers present at Monas. Prabowo stopped several times to shake hands and greet the workers. Shortly after, Prabowo threw hats towards the workers several times. The President continued to greet and give souvenirs to the attending workers from inside the RI 1 vehicle as he left Monas. Prabowo had created a friendly atmosphere with the workers since arriving at Monas that morning. Prabowo also greeted and shook hands with the workers upon arrival until he went up to the stage. Prabowo then threw the hat he was wearing from the stage.
