Unique Merchandise at RBR 2026: Nona Seroja Elephant Dolls and Tree Seedlings

This year’s Riau Bhayangkara Run (RBR) features a unique twist. Participants not only go home with a medal but also receive unusual merchandise in the form of a Nona Seroja elephant doll and tree seedlings. The distribution of this unconventional merchandise is part of the Riau Regional Police’s commitment to campaigning for environmental sustainability and the protection of Sumatra’s endemic wildlife through a sporting event. The ‘Nona Seroja’ elephant doll was chosen as an iconic representation of Sumatran elephant rescue efforts, while the tree seedlings are distributed so that participants can contribute directly to reforestation efforts at their own homes. Riau Police Chief, Inspector General Herry Heryawan, stated that Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 was deliberately packaged differently to provide a sustainable positive impact for Bumi Lancang Kuning. “We want Riau Bhayangkara Run to be more than just a race or a mere sporting celebration. Through this Nona Seroja doll and these tree seedlings, we are embedding a message of education and awareness,” said Inspector General Herry Heryawan. The Nona Seroja elephant doll and tree seedlings serve as tangible symbols of the Riau Police’s concern for the environment and wildlife. Through this activity, the Riau Police are inviting runners to join the movement to save the planet. “We want to invite the public, especially the runners, to work together to preserve Riau’s natural environment and protect endangered species like the Sumatran elephant. One runner plants one tree, imagine the green impact we can create,” he added. This creative initiative was warmly received by thousands of participants who came to collect their bibs and race packs at the Gelanggang Remaja Sports Hall in Pekanbaru City. Many of them immediately took selfies with the Nona Seroja elephant mascot and committed to planting the tree seedlings they took home. By blending the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, regional tourism, and an environmental mission, RBR 2026 has successfully set a new standard for sporting events in Riau Province. Riau Bhayangkara Run 2026 was held on Sunday, 19 July 2026, and was planned to be opened by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The event was attended by 15,000 participants from various regions and abroad. The organisation of RBR 2026 received appreciation from the Acting Governor of Riau, SF Hariyanto. SF Hariyanto specifically expressed his gratitude to Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan because RBR 2026 had brought many tourists to Riau, particularly Pekanbaru City. “We would like to thank the Police Chief and his staff for organising this RBR. I received a report that the total number of participants for tomorrow is 15,000, alhamdulillah,” said SF Hariyanto. The governor acknowledged that the RBR 2026 event successfully attracted tourists. This, he noted, had a positive impact on economic growth in Bumi Lancang Kuning, especially Pekanbaru City. “The impact on the economy in Riau Province, particularly Pekanbaru City, is that hotels are fully booked, MSMEs are selling out, food is selling out. We thank the Police Chief,” he said.
