Unique Flag-Raising Actions Mark Indonesia's 81st Independence Day
A number of nature-loving students from the Gainpala Student Activity Unit (UKM) at the Ar-Raniry State Islamic University (UIN) in Banda Aceh unfurled the Red and White flag along a river in the Teupin Balok tourist area, Aceh Besar, on Thursday. The action was carried out to enliven the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence while also urging the public to preserve rivers as part of the region’s tourism potential.
Separately, members of the Merah Mata Fishing (MMF) community in Aceh, together with UKM Pal Caniva 51 from Syiah Kuala University, held a flag-raising ceremony on a cliff at Lampuuk Beach. The event was held to welcome the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia and to foster a spirit of nationalism.
In Bogor, West Java, residents of Cibadak village celebrated by decorating a 620-metre stretch of village road with red and white fabrics, creating a vibrant display for the independence anniversary.
