Unique Fact Regarding Bahlil and Sarmuji: Golkar Chairman and Secretary General Both Appointed as Ministers

President Prabowo inaugurated several ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the State Palace, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (1/10/2026). There was a notable moment regarding the inauguration of two ministers: Bahlil Lahadalia and Muhammad Sarmuji.

Bahlil was inaugurated by the President as the Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition, concurrently serving as the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). Meanwhile, Sarmuji was appointed as the Minister of Industry, succeeding Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita. Interestingly, Bahlil and Sarmuji are the Chairman and Secretary General of the Golkar Party.

Speaking to the media, Minister of Industry Muhammad Sarmuji viewed the mandate he received as a significant responsibility. He emphasised the importance of the industrial sector as a lever for economic growth and for expanding employment opportunities.

“Therefore, we must identify the problems and fix them one by one. Especially industries related to labour absorption and those that can act as economic drivers; these must certainly be our priority,” said Sarmuji.
