Unila Senate Selects Three Candidates for 2027–2031 Rector

Bandarlampung (ANTARA) — The University of Lampung (Unila) Senate has formally selected three candidates for the 2027–2031 rector’s term following a voting meeting held in the main meeting room of the Unila Rectorate Building.

“Following the selection of these three rector candidates, all documents from the Senate meeting will be sent to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology in Jakarta,” said Prof. Muhammad Akib, chair of the Unila Rector Election Committee, in Bandarlampung on Thursday.

He said that law faculty academic Dr Budiyono received the most votes, securing 22 of the 47 Senate members present who cast ballots. Prof. Warsito came second with 15 votes, followed by Prof. Dr Asep Sukohar, a medical doctor, with seven votes.

After the ballot, the three candidates drew lots to determine their numbers for the final contest. Prof. Asep Sukohar was assigned number one, Prof. Warsito number two, and Dr Budiyono number three.

Akib said the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology would take part directly in determining Unila’s top official in the final round, holding 35 per cent of the total vote.

“The remaining 65 per cent of the votes belong to Unila Senate members,” he said.
